Managing the Largest European Statistical Collection: Traditions, Missions and Modernity in the Life and the Future of the Hungarian Statistical Office Library
Absztrakt
The study provides a brief overview and description of the establishment and operation of the Hungarian statistical library from the 19th century to the present day, covering the composition and use of the collection, as well as the institution's major achievements, completed projects, and milestones in recent years. The author also outlines the relationship between the library and its parent institution, the statistical office, describes the current state of affairs, and at the same time formulates numerous suggestions and ideas regarding the most effective possible cooperation between the two organizations in the future, primarily in the areas of statistical information services and research support. As a former member of the library staff, the author held various positions (reference librarian, cultural representative, researcher, team leader, head of department) between 2015 and 2025.
