Revision of the talent paradigm in vocational training
Abstract
In Hungary, talent management is a less emphasized area in vocational training than in other arenas of public education (OFI, 2015), and it is defined primarily in preparation for competition. The talent image of schools focuses on classical forms of expression (Gyarmathy, 2015), while in many areas the potential is not produced in the absence of catalysts that would target the intrapersonal areas of outstanding performance beyond abilities.
In our research, we examine the domestic practice of talent management in vocational education. how institutions and teachers think about the place and role of talent management in everyday education and training tasks. Our aim is to map the tools and methods that individual vocational training institutions and teachers can use to support the development of talents, and what good practices and techniques exist in these areas. The results of our research are provided by our questionnaire survey among teachers and the analysis of the programs of qualified talent development workshops. Our results point out that the revision of the vocational training talent paradigm can contribute to the protection of the national talent pool.
