    Dr. habil. István Simonics was Associate Professor and General Director of Trefort Ágoston Centre for Engineering Education at Óbuda University Kandó Kálman Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Budapest, Hungary. He retired in 2020. He graduated as an Electrical engineer MSc at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), and as an Engineer Teacher MA at BME. He received a Ph.D. in Education at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. His dissertation dealt with the role of electrical training materials. He was habilitated in 2017. From 2002, he held lectures and seminars at the Óbuda University Trefort Agoston Centre for Engineering Education. His major fields of research include engineering education, teacher training, adult training methodology, digital literacy, and the methodology of electrical training materials. He works as an expert in those fields. He has honours and awards: IGIP Adolf Melezinek Meritorious Service Award (2021), Senior Member Award (2018), International Engineering Educator “Ing. Paed. IGIP” H-057 (2012); John von Neumann Computer Society Multimedia in Education Oeuvre Award (2021), Forever Membership Award (2016), Training Material Development Award (2014); Hungarian Association of Vocational Training Award (2011); Eisenhower Exchange Fellow MN USA (1993). His memberships: He has been elected a member of the IGIP Executive Committee since 2014; Editorial Board of International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP); Senior Program Committee Member and Special Sessions Chair of ICL2025 Conference.

Abstract

The 28th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning, and the 54th IGIP International Conference on Engineering Pedagogy ‘Innovation via Collaborative Learning in Engineering Education’ will be organized on 01–03 October 2025, in Budapest, Hungary. In the beginning of the paper, the history of IGIP and ICL is outlined. The reader will know about the most important elements of IGIP – International Society for Engineering Pedagogy – including the mission the establishment of the list of accredited international engineering educators who were awarded the title ING.PAED.IGIP, the structure of Prototype Curriculum, the network of accredited training centres, independent peer-reviewed online journals, and awards. There is a short outlook to the past International Conferences, focusing on the Hungarian organization and activities.

The last part introduces the structure, helps and supports the future conference participants to submit proposals and take part in ICL2025 Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
