Enhancing E-book Accessibility
Insights from User Practices and Needs Across Different Communities
Abstract
The purpose of the presented research was to gain insight into the user experience with e-books among users of mobile devices and to understand the needs of blind and partially sighted e-book users. The surveys were conducted using two questionnaires which were translated and distributed among users from 15 EODOPEN project partner organisations. The survey findings offer a comprehensive understanding of the preferences, behaviours, and challenges faced by e-book readers, including both individuals using mobile devices and those who are visually impaired. The study represents the first of its kind in Europe, and the findings provide valuable insights into the use of e-books and related technologies.
