On technical library propaganda

Abstract

The competition announced in 1962 by the Hungarian Central Technical Library and Centre for Documentatlon made possible a numher of interesting and individual solutions of the application of the various methods of propaganda in the library. Circulation of periodicals, circulation of the services of documentation, exhibitions, organized discussions, the solution of the systematic reading of manual workers, the use of factory newspapers for propaganda, the preparation of recommending bibliographies, improvements in the relations between the work of the technical libraries and production, all aim as a whole, but also separately at the improvement of the efficiency of library propaganda. The few, outlined practical solutions serve to facilitate for every librarian in the technical libraries the performance of efficient technical propaganda which helps to rise the standard of production. The libraries can only then support efficiently the development of industry, if they bring to the knowledge of technically trained and manual workers, by the extensive use of the methods of propaganda, the latest technical achievements.
