Technology information needs and sources of small enterprises

Abstract

In a developing country such as India, the small scale industries play a significant role in national development. In order to understand better the characteristics of the information needs of the small entrepreneurs, the DRTC (Documentation Research and Training Centre, Bangalore) conducted a series of surveys. On the basis of these surveys the author deals with the following three aspects in detail: information needs and sources of information at the pre-investment stage; sources of information used for new product development and industrial production; information needed for choice of technology and industrial development planning.
