On the use of scientific and technical literature in Hungary

Abstract

Accordíng to library statistics the use of scientific and technical literature in Hungary is not satisfactory. This can be attributed to the following factors: inadequate searching habits and procedures; the gap between the demand for novelities and the actual use of literature; the negligence of the difference between the level of technical development of Hungary and that of the advanced countries; the increasing sophistication of the information dissemination procedurs. Inadequate information processing and use provides little assistance for systematic collection building in libraries. Based on examples the author presents recommandations aimed at the solution of the problem.
