The use of internationally available bibliographic databases in the technical library of Chemical Works of Gedeon Richter Ltd., Hungary

Abstract

In the pharmaceutical factory CWGR, Budapest, Hungary, online search services have been utilized since 1980. After an experimental period in 1980-81, the online searches have become a regular service by 1983, which was supported financially by the management of the factory. This support was justifted by the positive results of online searches and the demand for such services by the scientists and engineers of CWGR. Based on five years experiences, the extent of online search utilization, the most frequent problem types, the ways of reducing search costs, the users' responses, and the performance of intermediaries are presented.
