Neuralgic spots of special library operation

Abstract

The reasons of inefficient operation of special libraries in Hungary are the following. The division of the acquisition policy is based in an old division of scientific disciplines; the application of an administrative network principle acts against real, effective cooperation; central services are slow and unreliabie and they lack advanced technology; services are dis-cipline oriented rather than problem oriented; unproper management of library matters. The renewal of special libraries can be expected from the elimination of these weaknesses.
