The role of the Library of the Hungarian Parliament In the Parliamentary Information System

Abstract

By a decision in 1991 to respond directly to the Speaker, the Parliamentary Library retained its primary function. According to the concept of the Parliamentary Information System, the Parliamentary Library plays a decisive role in providing MPs with information. The Library has developed reference services based on databases partly created and maintained by staff and partly purchased in CD-ROM with American assistance. The future plans of the Library are to establish research capability, provlde Parliamentarians and the general public with comprehen-sive information on legislation.
