Third-generation tools supporting online information searching in Hungary: Pocket-switched network and high-level telecommunication program

Abstract

The history and development of the communication means used in online information searching in Hungary is summarized. The performance of high-level telecommunications programs and the inevitable need of these programs for utilizing data communication rate of 2400 bit/s are discussed. The technique adopted by OMIKK for interfacing a high-tevel communication software, Dialoglink, to the packet-switched network established in Hungary within the Information Infrastructure Development Project is described.
