Abstract

The ERIC database produced by the National Institute of Education in the United States is now available for everyone in Hungary on CD-ROM, in the National Pedagogy Library and Museum. The ERIC database and its CD-ROM version produced by SilverPlatter is described. The database explores the Engllsh-speaking literature of educatlon based on strictly structured selection criterla and processing procedure focusing on quality. The database in supported by a high-level thesaurus. The retrleval software of SilverPlatter can provide for sophisticated search strategies, while it is a user friendly system with several features facilitating retrieval. It is suggested both for educational and library professionals to get experience by using the ERIC database regularly.
