Computer network infrastructure ot libraries In Hungary - State-of-the-art report and development proposals

Abstract

The Hungarian Ministry of Education and Culture, with World Bank support, has initiated a project tor developing the infrastructure of academic libraries. The development of computer network support of libraries as a major part of this project is overviewed by the authors. Starting from an evaluation of the present situation, a proposal is presented for further infrastructural development of libraries. The role of the existing Information Infrastructure Development project of the country is emphasized as a supporting basis of the new library network development project for those libraries which benefit from IID's services.
