Abstract

Library and information supply systems perform public cultural, educational, information and knowledge transfer missions. A social demand is to accomplish all these functions efficiently and at moderate expenses. Financing of these activrties is supported jointly by the government, by nonprofit organizations and by the market (private persons, enterprises). Within an organization multiple financial sources can be considered. The library law under preparation must regulate the operation of the supply system; in this framework the features of the library, its various types, its services for communities in both nonprofit and private customers' domains, financing and library cooperation should be taken into account.
