Hybrid USB of Internet and CD-ROMs

Abstract

Following a historical introduction of computer information services in libraries, a library service is presented based on parallel or hybrid use of CD-ROM databases and internet sources. Through the example of the Library of Semmelweis Medical University, Hungary, the use of the CD-ROM collection in conjunction with or independently from internet is shown. The advantages, limitations, user responses etc. of this type of combined usage evaluated.
