Historical background of the information science. Part 6.
Abstract
In this series the concepts of information science, their evolution, appearance and relationships are presented, in the framework of the development of these concepts. In addition to establish a cultural historical tableau, the aim is to create a model for forming a more unified image of information. In this sixth part the development of artificial intelligence research is outlined that was started by the appearance of the computer. The topics, however, contain more than computing, include also research on psychology, neurology and philosophy to find the differences between human brain and computers. These problems are discussed by the cognitive science but it is shown that basic principles of information science are also contained in this subject area.
