Historical background of information science. Part 1.
Abstract
In this series of papers the concepts of information science, their evolution, appearance and interrelations are presented in their historical development. In this cultural historical presentation, another aim is to establish a modei that forms our view of information in an uniform frame. In this first part somé scientific determinations of information are presented, the relation of information science and history are discussed, based on a unique categori-zation of information history, and the principal frame of the series is outfined that regards information science as a discipline treating the acquisition, storage, processing, retrieval, communication, delivery, application and utilization of knowledge; information history reflects their historical formation Finally, the elements of information processes are considered that had existed in living organisms before the appearance of man.
