Somé consortial models for acquiring electronic resources in Germany

Abstract

Four types of consortial models are discussed. State-determined regional consortia for libraries in higher educational institutions; regional multi-type consortia; institutional consortia; and suprare-gional, multi-type institutional research library consortia. Somé political implications, as well as the effects on the licensing contract negotiations, associated with these types of consortia are treated. The importance of the advocacy role of the Information Communication Commission of the Joint Learned Societies, the Germán Research Foundation and the efforts of the Federal Ministry are also mentioned.
