Abstract

On 20 March, the Delegation of the European Commis-sion to Hungary launched its Library Programme to be carried out in the frame of the Enlargement Communication Programme. Under the programme, the Delegation has established EU Information Corners in the 19 county public libraries and in the Budapest Municipality Library. As a sec-ond phase of the programme, a training series was started in spring 2003. The main subjects covered by the training are: introduction to European integration issues - milestones of EU history, the institutions and their roles; Hungary's accession to the EU - historical back-ground and state-of-the-art report of the accession proc-ess; European integration and the iibraries - from a strategic point of view; communication of accession -the role of Hungárián libraries; officiai publications of the EU's institutions - an introduction; electronic information sources of/on the EU - community databases and web-sites (with practice); exercises (distance learning).
