Content representation of Hungárián scientific literature: the current situation

Abstract

The study - based upon an intemational survey about content representation in online databases - examines the Hungárián situation. It is a survey of 16 Hungárián reference databases, regarding their subject representation tools (number, source, notation, content and context). In intemational comparison, we have to admit that the existing levél of subject representation in Hungárián databases is not sufficienl for a more detailed content analy-sis. As the quantity of data available online is growing, we must develop more sophisticated services in order to represent scientific literature according to its value. This quality development could have a positive impact both on the literature and on the information seeking habits. We must find the way to ensure quality selection.
