The Transylvanian Digital Database

Abstract

The paper presents EDA, the digital database of the Transylvanian Museum Society. In addition, it describes the Society’s mission to preserve andtransmit cultural heritage based on historical preliminaries, as well as the Society’s commitment to modern information provision. It introduces the system of collections and oftheir digital versions, with a view to versatile search opportunities. It analyses the functions of repositories and open-source software, including the relating decisions taken by EDA. Aseparate chapter is devoted to the rarities of science history in possession of the Society, which are also part of the digital collection.
