EIS National Program 2012. New directions in the provision ofinformation
Abstract
In our society, it is extremely useful if you are always and everywhere well-informed – says Dr. Thomas Knieper (“In unserer Gesellschaft ist es einhohes Gut, immer und überall informiert zu sein“). To do this, we need information. However, information has got a price which is often measured in hard currency. In Hungary, for nearly two decades now, various consortia and alliances have been trying to satisfy information hunger with serious work, as economically and as well as possible. A special segment of all this, namely scientific information is particularly important for research and higher education, for the educated. In 2011, the Hungarian Government commissioned the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to perform, in cooperation with its library, the duties relating to the operation of the National Electronic Information Service Programme.
