Innovative library spaces in the renewal of transfer of knowledge in higher education
Abstract
Of the most crucial statements included in „Education and Training, 2020”, a European Committee-approved document, the author gives special emphasis to those strategies which are also specified in the higher education strategy of Hungary. Innovation has to be given special emphasis; innovative and original pedagogical methods have to be implemented; teachers have to be prepared to transfer knowledge to the Z generation by means of adequate methods. To meet these objectives, it is necessary to take into account the educational and study spaces required to facilitate the new information-acquisition habits of this generation. In this process, higher education libraries can assume a key role for the simple reason that the innovatively established library spaces are capable of ensuring the study as well as the information acquisition needs of the new generation. Libraries can create, in cooperation with other units of the university, integrated educational spaces within the library, which can serve as the prime movers of making the new methods general within the institution. The study demonstrates successful library spaces through a number of international examples.
