Church libraries: museum collections? research libraries? special libraries?

Abstract

Church libraries constitute a peculiar group within the Hungarian library system. Are church libraries actually libraries or scientific workshops, museum collections instead? Can they be considered as special libraries or do they belong to the „others” category? Can a modern library operate in a historic building? The article seeks answers to these questions.
