Abstract

In our global society, where physical and time limits lose primary importance, information and communication technologies and processes assume a strengthening role in economic and social discourse. Knowledge organization, which maintains information and knowledge as core values, has become popular as a fundamental principle of organizing operation in educational institutions as well. Successful knowledge management policy creates an environment in which information is shared and reused as a value. This is based on harmonizing various decision-making processes within a single institution, such as the creation of new knowledge, assessment of current resources, information dissemination and impact measurement. The OpenAIREplus project was started in December 2011, based on the OpenAIRE project and as its continuation. The primary purpose of this two-and-a half-year project with 33 countries participating was to create an infrastructure which links open-access publications and related research data sets.
