Business information services in the United Kingdom

Abstract

In the United Kingdom there is an efficient system of business information supply operating. The library system takes an active part in producing and providing related information. The study discusses the mechanism of and the library system’s participation in business information provision. In addition to the services of the British Library's Business IP Centre the article deals with initiatives in rural libraries, which are characterised by a strong business approach, and focus on business- and economyrelated information resources for small and medium-sized enterprises in the regions concerned.
