Abstract

With support from a project grant a complex system of digital services will have been established in Hungary by the end of October 2014. The system is to going have a major impact not only on the future of the national library, but is expected to represent a breaking point for Hungarian librarianship as a whole. The main purpose of the system called ELDORADO is to provide digital content in a legitimate way, to “revitalize” earlier publications – that are not commercially available and are relegated on library shelves – in a digital format, within a renewing legal environment, adapted to the expectations of digital society. Effective implementation requires a close cooperation between the customer (the National Széchényi Library) and the vendor (the Monguz Ltd.) during the period of almost a year, and makes it inevitable, at the same time, to actively involve library partners and other players (publishers, booksellers, CRMs and government agencies responsible for protecting intellectual property etc.).
