Open access and the tasks of academic libraries

Abstract

The paper summarizes the tasks and fields of activities related to open access which are carried out by academic and special librarians to support researchers as their primary users. It also includes an overview of the archiving policy of international publishers, and of the official standpoint of IFLA on open access (IFLA Statement on open access – clarifying IFLA's position and strategy).
