Adults in the digital jungle. Adult education and informationliteracy

Abstract

Information literacy is one of the newest areas of library and information science research in Hungary, while American and Western European colleagues have been dealing with this issue since the 1970s. The topic of information literacy appears most frequently within the context of public and higher education. Adult education is, however, not part of the discussion. It is essential to empower adults with this 21st-century competency, as digital immigrants must also possess the key skills which enable them to navigate through the digital jungle.
