Abstract

In 2010, 2011 and 2017 a questionnaire survey was carried out among Hungarian students studying library and information science. In these three years the survey was filled in by a total of 223 persons. It is important to note that the number of students was decreasing in this period. The questions and assumptions in the survey were related mainly to the views of students on their employment possibilities. 75% of respondents beleive in finding employment in libraries. 25% of them intends to be employed with another diploma, or would participate in extension training to have better chances for being employed in libraries. According to a decisive majority of Hungarian LIS students human relations are most important for success in finding a workplace. Diploma, other knowledge or professional devotion are considered less important in the ranklist of factors. Students would prefer being employed in academic or town libraries. Most of them would choose reference work or cataloguing from among library tasks.
