History and operation of the Archives of the Hungarian Radio

Abstract

The article is summarizes the history and operation of the Archives of the Hungarian Radio (from 2011 named MTVA, Media Services and Support Trust), showing all its activities, especially in areas where it is similar to or identical with library work. The goal was to compile a well-structured, easy-to-read, understandable publication, that gives an insight into this extremely complex task, showing its versatility and specific components. It was also among the goals to show the similarities and differences between a traditional library and an audio archive. The article is based on Hungarian and foreign literature in the Archive, high-quality, controlled resources from the Internet and information provided by the current employees of the Archives of the Hungarian Radio.
