The project Active Communities entered its follow up phase
Abstract
On September 15, 2019, the European Union flagship project Active Communities - Active Community Involvement (EFOP-1.3.1-15-2016-00001), which began three years earlier, was completed. Within the project, the professional centres of libraries, museums and public education institutions co-operated for the first time in Hungary to increase social participation and community involvement, and to contribute to equal opportunities through community development tools. The project's major achievements include improvements that are disseminated in publications (independent volumes, professional journals), and electronically on the project's website and wiki interface during the follow up (maintenance) period. The Week of Communities as a national event and an annual conference will continue to be organized. The article provides an overview of project objectives and the results achieved, with a focus on the library area, and on the operation methods based on community participation. The article is based on an extensive project summary published in the special issue of the journal Könyvtári Figyelő in 2019.
