Comics in the library
Abstract
In this study, comics are examined as a cultural product from the librarians’ perspective. An attempt is made to show the potential of comics in the field of knowledge and culture dissemination, and how can they participate in this context in the life of society and libraries. The research focuses, among other things, on the early and current relationship between comics and libraries, on the knowledge and experience of collecting comics, organising them into collections, placing them physically in collections, as well as their cataloguing and provision. Finally, the development path of scholarly approaches to the medium of comics is described. The literature used in this study is largely based on the activities of libraries in the United States. The findings of this study can serve as a reference for any library in which there is a need and/or the potential for adding comics to the collection.
