Compass and Compass+ - A site database and its further development

Abstract

In 2014, the EISZ Secretariat of the MTA Library and Information Centre made available the first version of the Compass repository database, which allows users to find out about the repositories of scientific content available in electronic form in Hungarian institutions. This database allowed searches by institution, database name and locality. The first enhancements to the system were made in 2017. The search interface was redesigned and article and journal level searches were added. While maintaining the traditional site database functionality, Compass was upgraded in 2020. The Compass+ interface, developed as a separate platform but using largely the same data platform, allows for the creation and querying of multi-purpose reports on databases, in addition to collection management.
