Social competences of IT students and junior IT workers - social skills hidden next to coding
Abstract
Most higher education institutions have specialized IT education programs based on technical skills and expertise. However, the increasingly dynamic work environment requires IT professionals to have advanced communication, collaboration, and social skills, commonly known as soft skills. It is essential for computer science students who later become professionals to master not only technical aspects but also to have a high level of competence in their social skills and, consequently, their communication skills. Our research included IT students and (young) IT workers. Students studied at different levels of education, including bachelor's and master's degrees. The research aimed to compare the difference between their social competencies and screen time on the phone.
