Libraries and financial culture. Part 2: Competences
Abstract
Developing financial literacy for all age groups is a strategic objective at the global level. In this series of studies, we highlight library initiatives to promote informed financial decisions. Our aim is (1) to integrate a field that is typically strange to librarians into the Hungarian library profession, including library education, thereby improving the financial literacy of librarians; (2) to share international library best practices with an adaptive orientation, catalyzing the introduction of new financial education (and business development) services in all types of libraries; (3) indirectly, to raise the prestige and social utility of the Hungarian library system and librarians. In Part 2, we identify the librarian competences needed to support the national economy by analysing international and national competence frameworks.
