Visible, searchable, and discoverable scholarly publications Academic Search Engine Optimization (ASEO)
Abstract
In order for a scientific publication to be visible, searchable and found in databases, repositories or on the Internet, it must meet certain well-defined content and technical conditions. It is not enough for the text to be outstanding from a professional point of view it must also be made usable by search robots. This is what academic search engine optimization is for, which can make publications more visible by using an appropriate data structure and relevant metadata. The standard file format for scientific publications is PDF/A, which was specially developed to ensure long-term preservation, within which the most important content element and metadata carrier are title, abstract and keywords. Link building within the document and the use of permanent digital identifiers are of also importance. The use of professional management software (e.g. Open Journal System) is recommended for the implementation of scientific publishing, which not only provides an online interface for journals, but also supports the entire publishing process and ensures the appropriate data exchange for various international databases.
